Just after the first of the Year The Lancaster Opera House will announce the upcoming registration information for its Summer Theater Camps. There are two sections, the first for ages 7-11, and the second for ages 12-17. Both camps put on a show. The younger camp focuses on exposure to the different elements that go into a theater performance. The older camp uses a more sophisticated script and focuses on skill building.
Our goal is to provide a nice balance of fun and work, while bringing out the real creativity in young performing artists. The condensed schedule requires a full immersion into theatrical exploration and developing the courage to make choices on stage, all done in a safe and nurturing environment.
We try to make these camps an exciting and educational summer adventure! These day camps focus on the many theatrical skills required to produce a musical, concluding with two public performances. Skills emphasized are singing, acting, and dancing, with enrichment activities that might include classes in music appreciation and song analysis, as well as improv workshops.
